Effects of Meteorological Conditions and Irrigation Levels during Different Growth Stages on Maize Yield in the Jing-Jin-Ji Region

چکیده

Maize is a major crop that particularly sensitive to climate change. In addition, the extreme shortage of water resources threatens production. Thus, improving effective utilization rate an important problem discuss. this regard, we quantified combined effects meteorological conditions and irrigation levels during different growth stages on city-level maize yields in Jing-Jin-Ji region from 1993 2019. The results show sowing period was affected by minimum temperature, while other were maximum temperature. At ear stage summer maize, when reached average level (52%), inflection point total precipitation 401.42 mm region. When higher than mm, yield decreased with increasing precipitation. Furthermore, significantly drought at seedling stage. high rates over long dry spells, as mean daily temperature spells increased, easily increased. increase can reverse decrease yield. Moreover, increased rise longer but warmer temperatures shorter spells. As such, our evaluation will be useful for assessing food security moving gradually toward achieving water–energy–food nexus.

Detecting the causality influence of individual meteorological factors on local PM2.5 concentration in the Jing-Jin-Ji region

Due to complicated interactions in the atmospheric environment, quantifying the influence of individual meteorological factors on local PM2.5 concentration remains challenging. The Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei (short for Jing-Jin-Ji) region is infamous for its serious air pollution. To improve regional air quality, characteristics and meteorological driving forces for PM2.5 concentration should be bet...

The impact of new transportation modes on population distribution in Jing-Jin-Ji region of China

This paper conducts a novel study in China's Jing-Jin-Ji region to investigate the determinants of population distribution and short-term migration based on a comprehensive dataset including traditional census data, earth observation data, and emerging Internet data. Our results show that due to the high level of urbanization in this region, natural conditions are no longer the strongest determ...

The effect of planting methods on maize growth and yield at different irrigation regimes

ABSTRACT- Maize production, which is ranked after wheat and barely in Fars province, Iran, needs a considerable amount of irrigation water that is not available in scarce water conditions in drought situations. Therefore, proper planting method can improve irrigation water management. The objectives of the present study were to investigate the effects of two planting methods, on-bed and in furr...
